About Scottish Bridge

Supporting bridge
in Scotland since 1933.

Scottish Bridge, formerly known as the Scottish Bridge Union (SBU), is the national body for bridge in Scotland, dedicated to growing the game and supporting the people who play it.

From local clubs to international competition, we provide the structure, guidance and opportunities that enable bridge to thrive across the country.

We are a registered Scottish charity (SC051361), with foundations dating back to 1933.

Our Purpose

We exist to foster, promote and support bridge as a mind sport across Scotland.

Our work focuses on:

  • Increasing participation at all levels

  • Supporting clubs, teachers and volunteers

  • Creating opportunities for learning and development

  • Strengthening Scotland’s presence in international bridge

Our Story

Founded in 1933, Scottish Bridge has played a central role in shaping the game across Scotland.

From its early foundations to today’s national network, the organisation has evolved alongside the players, clubs and communities it supports, building a legacy that continues to grow.

Our Role

As the national governing body, we provide the structure that allows bridge to function and flourish.

We support clubs, oversee competitions, develop education pathways and ensure the game is played to high standards across Scotland.

Our Future

We are focused on growing the game for the next generation.

Through increased participation, stronger club networks and continued investment in education and competition, we aim to ensure bridge remains relevant, accessible and widely enjoyed.
