Learn more about the international selection process for 2026/27.

For the 2026/27 international season, Scotland will compete in the following Home International events:

  • Camrose Trophy (Scotland will field two teams as hosts of the second weekend)

  • Lady Milne Trophy

  • Teltscher Trophy

  • Online Mixed Teams Event

The International Selection Committee is currently reviewing the long-term approach to team selection and preparation, with a particular focus on building towards the 2027/28 European Championships. For the 2026/27 season, selections will be made as outlined below.

Camrose Selection

Selection for the Camrose teams will be based partly on performances in the National League, alongside performances across the season in other major events.

The following places are guaranteed:

  • The winning National League team will each be guaranteed one match representing the Leading (Scotland) Team.

  • The pairs from the second-placed National League team will each be guaranteed one match in either the Scotland Team or the Scottish Bridge Team.

All remaining places will be determined by the Selection Committee based on overall performance throughout the season.

National League Dates

  • 3–4 October – Carlton Bridge Club

  • 21–22 November – Clyde Bridge Centre

Women’s & Seniors Selection

A combined Women’s and Seniors Pairs Trial will be held at the Clyde Bridge Centre on:

  • Friday 4 December (evening session only)

  • Saturday 5 December

  • Sunday 6 December

Women’s and Senior pairs will compete in the same field.

Selection will be as follows:

  • The top two Women’s pairs will qualify for the Lady Milne Trophy.

  • The top two Senior pairs will qualify for the Teltscher Trophy.

  • One additional pair for each event will be selected by the Selection Committee based on performances throughout the season.

Pairs eligible for both categories may qualify for both teams if they finish in the top two of each category. They will also remain eligible for selection as a committee pick in either event.

Why a Combined Trial?

The committee is keen to continue holding a dedicated Women’s trial, giving all eligible pairs the opportunity to compete for selection. However, entry numbers have been relatively low in recent years, and very small fields do not provide the strongest competitive environment.

By combining the Women’s and Seniors trials, players will benefit from a larger, more competitive field and a wider variety of opposition, creating a stronger selection event for both teams.

Online Mixed Teams Event

Details of the online mixed teams selection process will be announced in the coming weeks once the event arrangements have been finalised.
