rankings
Rankings group players by experience, helping to ensure enjoyable, fair competition.
Rankings group players by experience and achievement, helping to create fair, enjoyable and appropriately matched competition across Scottish Bridge.
As players earn Master Points through club, district and national events, they progress through a structured ranking system ranging from Novice through to Grand Master. The system reflects both experience and competitive achievement over time.
The early stages of the system are organised into Bronze categories, which are designed to support newer and developing players:
Bronze 1 — Novice, Club Master
Players who are new to the game or building early experience at club level.
Bronze 2 — Local Master, District Master
Regular club players developing confidence and competitive experience.
Bronze 3 — Master, 1 Star Master, 2 Star Master
Established players competing consistently, often across clubs and occasional national events.
Bronze 4 — 3–5 Star Master and all Senior Masters
Experienced players comfortable in both club and wider competitive environments.
Beyond the Bronze structure, players continue progressing through broader national rankings:
Silver — Regional Master to National Master
Strong and experienced competitors with growing national-level achievement.
Gold — Life Master to Grand Master
Highly accomplished players recognised for sustained success and significant Master Point accumulation.
Rankings are used throughout Scottish Bridge to guide event eligibility and create balanced competition, particularly within Bronze-only tournaments where players compete against others at a similar stage of development.
Your ranking updates automatically as you earn Master Points, although eligibility for some ranked competitions is determined using periodic snapshot dates during the season.
You can view your current ranking, Master Point totals and snapshot status at any time via MEMPAD.
