scottish cup & Gold Cup

A national knockout competition for
teams of four.

The Scottish Cup is the SBU’s premier national knockout competition for teams of four.

Played face-to-face from September through to May, it brings together teams from across Scotland in a head-to-head elimination format, with each round progressing to longer matches and higher stakes. Matches are scored using IMPs and culminate in a 64-board final to determine the national champion.

Teams arrange early-round fixtures themselves, with later stages becoming more structured. The competition is open to Scottish Bridge members only, and represents one of the most prestigious titles in the game.

For teams eliminated before the quarter-finals, a parallel Scottish Cup Plate offers a second chance to continue competing.
