youth bridge

A smart, social and seriously fun card game for ages 6–26.

Youth Bridge introduces young players to a game that builds confidence, sharpens thinking and creates lasting friendships, all through play. Bridge offers a welcoming environment to learn, improve and challenge yourself alongside others.

Bridge is played in schools, clubs and competitions across Scotland and around the world. You can start with fun beginner formats like Le Petit Bridge and Mini-Bridge then progress into youth events, camps, national squads and even international tournaments representing Scotland.

Unlike many activities, Bridge brings together strategy, teamwork, psychology and creativity in one game. No special equipment, athletic ability or previous experience required. Just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

a note from our youth convenor

Zhenya Winter

“I started playing bridge when I was nine years old and it’s shaped so much of who I am today. It taught me confidence, communication, resilience and strategic thinking, while also introducing me to incredible people and opportunities around the world. I’m passionate about helping the next generation discover how fun, social and rewarding bridge can be.”

Bridge is often described as “chess meets teamwork”, but honestly, it’s even more fun than that.

You’ll learn how to think ahead, work with a partner, solve problems under pressure and make decisions with limited information. The more you play, the more you begin to spot patterns, read situations and trust your instincts.

skills you’ll build naturally

Bridge builds skills that help with school, university, work and life.

Focus and memory

Tracking cards, recalling information and concentrating during play helps strengthen memory and attention.

Maths without feeling like maths

Bridge develops probability, patterns, quick mental calculations and reasoning through gameplay.

Communication and teamwork

Success depends on working with a partner, discussing ideas and learning to think together.
