International

International Selection Process

For the 2026/27 season Scotland’s international participation will be in the Home International Series. We have two teams in the Camrose (as we are hosting the second weekend), as well as teams in the Lady Milne and Teltscher Trophies.

There will also be an online mixed teams event.

The Selection committee is reviewing how best to select and prepare teams for the future, with an emphasis on looking forward to the 2027/2028 European Championships.

For the coming season we will be basing selection as described below.

Camrose Selection

Selection will be based in part on the National League. The winning team will be guaranteed one game in the Leading (Scotland) team, and the pairs in the team coming second will be guaranteed one game in either the Scotland team or the Scottish Bridge team.

The other places will be decided by performance across all events.

The National League will be held on the weekends of 3/4th October in the Carlton Bridge Club and 21st and 22nd November in the Clyde Bridge club.

Senior and Women’s Selection

We will be holding a combined Women and Senior pairs based trial in the Clyde Bridge Centre on the 4th, 5th and 6th of December. (Play on the 4th will be evening only)

Women and Seniors pairs will be playing against each other. The top two Women and  top Two Senior pairs will be selected for the Lady Milne and Teltscher trophies, with a further pair added to each based upon performance in all events.

Any pair entering that was eligible for both events would be selected for both events if finishing in the top two in both categories, and will also be eligible for being a selectors pick in either event.

We are going with this format as we are anxious to hold a Women’s trial this year to give pairs a chance to contend for the team. However numbers of entries have been low in recent years and a trial with less than 4 tables is unsatisfactory. Having a larger combined field will provide a better test and a wider range of opposition for both events.

Online Mixed Event

We will communicate our plans for this event in the coming weeks once details  are confirmed.
